Step-by-step Pedicure

Every good pedicurist has their own style and specific rituals around treating a Lady to a relaxing experience.  But below are the basic steps that should be included in any good foot service. Watch the video for an example of a professional level pedicure.

Step 1: Prepare the Setting

Create a tranquil and comfortable space for your Lady by setting up a cozy area with soft lighting and soothing music. Consider placing a plush towel or cushion for her to rest her feet on. Consider having water or her favorite beverage handy in case she needs a drink.

Step 2: Gather the Supplies

Before starting the pedicure, gather all the necessary supplies. Here are the essential items you will need: Nail clippers, nail file, cuticle cream or oil, foot soak or bath salts, foot scrub or exfoliator, pumice stone or foot file, moisturizer, base coat, nail polish, and top coat

Step 3: Soak Her  Feet

Fill a foot spa or basin with warm water and add a foot soak or bath salts. Help your Lady comfortably soak her feet for about 10-20 minutes. This will soften her skin and relax her senses.  You may elect to use callus remover (cream or mask) after a nice soak and then remove it before the exfoliation step.

Step 4: File and Shape the Nails

Using a nail clipper, carefully trim your Lady's nails to their desired length. Then, use a nail file to shape them. File in one direction to prevent splitting or damage.

Step 5: Care for the Cuticles

Apply a small amount of cuticle cream or oil to her nail beds and gently massage it in. Use a cuticle stick or orangewood stick to push back the cuticles and remove any dead skin.

Step 6: Exfoliate and Remove Dead Skin

Apply a foot scrub or exfoliator to your Lady's feet, focusing on rough areas like the heels and soles. Use a pumice stone or foot file to gently remove dead skin and calluses. Rinse her feet and pat them dry.

Step 7: Massage and Moisturize

Take some time to give your Lady a relaxing foot massage using a moisturizer, oil,  or foot cream. Gently massage her feet, paying extra attention to the arches and pressure points.  Some salons  will add the extra touch of applying a moisturizing foot mask during this step.

Step 8: Apply Nail Polish

Before applying nail polish, wipe her nails with a cotton pad soaked in nail polish remover to remove any residue or oils. Apply a base coat to protect her nails, followed by her chosen nail polish color. Finish with a top coat for added shine and longevity. Give her time to relax comfortably as her nails dry.
